9 Days of Giving 2025

For the third year, we’ve had the opportunity for all 9 Board Members of the foundations to spread Bianca’s holiday cheer to organizations they knew she would have loved to support. Each member chose a special cause to donate $1,500 to on behalf of The Bianca Beck Memorial Foundation, for a total of $13,500 in donations during the holiday season.

Our President and Bianca’s mother, Lisa Blake, chose to gift $1,000 to the Valley Community Library.

“Once again this year, I chose to donate $1,000 to the Valley Community Library. I have been so impressed by how the library has used past donations to create wonderful summer programs in the children’s library. This year’s gift will help purchase books and props that spark imagination, build language skills, encourage curiosity about the world, and foster empathy and emotional awareness in young readers. The Bianca Beck Memorial Foundation is honored to continue celebrating Bianca’s deep love of children and reading through this meaningful support.
We are also proud to donate $500 to support Fruits & Roots Community Fridge nonprofit organization in Lackawanna County located just outside the Valley Community Library. As NEPA’s first community refrigerator, this volunteer-run mutual aid project provides free, 24/7 access to donated fruits, vegetables, water, and juices through an open-access fridge. It serves as a vital supplemental food resource, allowing community members to take what they need, no questions asked.
As Bianca’s mom, I know she would think this initiative is absolutely amazing—and she would be all over it. The Bianca Beck Memorial Foundation is truly honored to make a donation this year to support such a thoughtful and impactful organization. 💜
Board Member Loriann Crotti chose to support two incredible organizations making a real difference in our community.
In a world of abundance, the reality of food insecurity and the scarcity of a hot meal can feel overwhelming. But every single donation—whether it’s time, money, or goods—to a local food bank or food kitchen makes a tangible and immediate difference. It’s not just about charity; it’s about building a stronger, more compassionate community.
Loriann donated $1,000 to Bread Basket of NEPA, an organization dedicated to fighting hunger and providing essential food resources to families in need.
She also gifted $500 to St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, which serves a hot meal 365 days a year to those in need—feeding over 250 people every single day.
Board Member Gena Taylor chose to donate her gift to a local family! To say Bianca would be moved to tears by sweet Levi’s story—and by the chance to help—would be an understatement.
“Levi Zuckerman is a three-year-old boy from Scott Township. He’s full of life, with a huge laugh and an even bigger heart. He has the kind of personality that lights up every room he enters—whether he’s belting out his favorite songs, playing with his dinosaurs, or asking for pizza. Levi lives joyfully, and that joy is contagious.
A few weeks ago, what was initially thought to be a simple injury quickly spiraled into every parent’s worst nightmare. After ER visits and persistent symptoms, an MRI revealed the unthinkable — a mass on Levi’s brain.
Levi was diagnosed with a Grade 3 Ependymoma brain tumor located between his cerebellum and brain stem, beginning to wrap around his spinal cord. Within days, he underwent a five-hour brain surgery to remove the tumor.
Miraculously, surgeons were able to remove the entire mass. But just days later, oncology confirmed the family’s worst fears — it was cancer.
Levi is now undergoing a six-week course of radiation treatment at CHOP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia).”
Board Member Matt Beck chose to donate $1,500 to the Wayne County Children’s Christmas Bureau, an organization that ensures children and families in our community experience the magic of Christmas—no matter their circumstances. Matt was drawn to their mission of providing gifts, meals, and support to local families, knowing how meaningful it is for every child to feel remembered, cared for, and celebrated during the holidays.

Board Member Noelle Griffiths chose to gift $1,500 to the NEPA Youth Shelter. One of the first things Noelle noticed when she walked into the center was the beautiful Christmas tree and the warm, welcoming atmosphere. Bianca would have been brought to tears seeing such a strong, caring community of teens supporting one another.

Board Member Brianna Hummel chose to partner with Forest City Regional Elementary School for a great cause! Give us a like and share our post after you read Brianna’s story! đź’ś

“This year, I wanted to give back to the place where it all began for Bianca and me—Forest City Regional Elementary! It’s where we first met, became best friends, and made memories that lasted from elementary through high school.

I reached out to a friend and fellow graduate—who’s now the principal at FCR—and learned about their Toys for Kids program. He shared that many families in the community need help this year, and they weren’t sure if they could support everyone.

Donating to the school and community that shaped so much of our lives felt like the perfect way to honor those memories and Bianca. Knowing this program will bring joy to children during the holidays would have made her so happy. Christmas was her favorite time of year!

I had the privilege of meeting with Mike Zack, principal of Forest City Regional Elementary and our former classmate, to present a check for $1,500 to support the National Honor Society in making this program possible.”

Board Member Mitchell Blake shares why we are doubling down on a place that was incredibly important to Bianca.

“I was honored to recently support Forest City Regional High School Student Council’s “Feed-a-Forester” program—a cause that has always held a special place in my heart, as I was once a proud member of student council myself. Forest City is also where Bianca graduated, so giving back to a community that shaped both of us feels deeply meaningful. Through the Bianca Beck Memorial Foundation, we’re committed to honoring our roots and carrying forward the values of community, kindness, and generosity that this school instilled in us. I am proud to donate $1,500 in honor of Bianca!”
Today, Board Member Dennis Beck chose to spread joy by supporting the Building Home Libraries program, a beautiful initiative coordinated through the Wayne County Community Foundation.
Thanks to Dennis’s generous $1,500 gift, countless children will soon be able to bring new books into their homes. Even a small contribution makes a big impact—according to the program, a donation of just $20 can place brand-new books into the hands of five Wayne County students in grades K–8. Dennis’s support will help ignite a love of reading for so many young learners.

Board Member Al Beck chose to gift the $1,500 donation to For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation doing truly life-changing work. The foundation is currently building the nation’s first-ever Cancer Respite Center, a $25 million facility located adjacent to Woodloch Resort in Hawley, PA. Once complete, the center is projected to serve more than 4,000 individuals each year.
This respite center will offer families facing cancer something priceless: a meaningful pause from the daily challenges of illness. It will be a safe, welcoming place to share meals, heal through art, find peace in nature, laugh together, and strengthen the bonds that matter most.
Bianca treasured time spent with her family, and her compassion for others knew no bounds. There is no doubt she would have wholeheartedly embraced supporting such a beautiful and impactful mission.
